Finally finished winterizing the baby bike this afternoon. Hope 93 octane gas and Sta-bil will get it through the winter, which is shaping up to be a Rocky Mountain Special (in Memphis?). Decided I was going to do some mods to the seat since I'll have about 4 months down time, and I'm glad I pulled it off and dismantled it. The seat cover is disintegrating where it wraps under the pan, the inner lining is shredded, the vinyl is solid mildew and mushrooms, and the foam fell apart when I took the cellophane off of it. And this is on a 1998 model. Makes me wonder how well some of the older models' seats are holding up. Anyway, I'm going to try for a late 1930s/early 1940s look for that as well, since I'm going to recover it with 1/2-1 inch of foam maximum, and water buffalo leather instead of the fake crap it came with. Intrudin can verify the 40's look so far, and I'll try to get up some pictures when it is closer to completed.
I still have the complete rear fender trim and passenger pegs if anyone is in need of them. I just couldn't seem to make myself throw them away, even though they are of no use to me (my bike can no longer accomodate them, thank you angle grinder and welder).
Anyone who's still riding put in some extra miles for me and Lisa. Keep the snow off.
